“Kit Carson Electric Cooperative Inc. and its energy supplier Guzman Energy broke ground on three photovoltaic solar arrays, totaling 6 MW, in New Mexico.
Solar developer Syncarpha Capital started construction of a 1.5-MW array in Sunshine, a 1.5-MW array at the Northern New Mexico College in El Rito and a 3-MW array at the Taos regional wastewater treatment plant in Taos, according to an Aug. 5 news release.
Kit Carson Electric expects to complete the projects by the end of 2019, allowing it to reach 50% of its daytime solar energy goals. The co-op has a target of reaching 100% daytime solar energy by 2022.
In April, Kit Carson Electric issued a request of proposals for its next phase of solar and storage projects with Guzman Energy. They expect the next phase to be completed in 2021.”
